We own a tractor!! A modestly old Ford 3000 with a bucket loader!! Here are the views, plus the last one is the tractor in its new home under our high drive.

After my bitter disappointment the other day, this tractor almost literally fell into my lap. (Ouch!) A beef cattle farmer and part time tractor mechanic from Danville (the next town over) sort of brokered the deal. He knew I was looking for a tractor like this, and he saw this one for sale on the side of the road in Barre on Wednesday. He called me Thursday, and now Friday it is ours!! We have some implements coming as well, but they probably won't arrive at the farm until next week. Some details still need to get hammered out.

The tractor had one owner who bought it new in 1972 to use on his dairy farm. It is very well cared for, and for the last 10 years it has only been used for bush hogging and light chores. This tractor was usually only driven by the dairy farmer's wife, who passed away about 8 months ago. So it was literally only driven by a little old lady!!

Anyway, we are pretty psyched!! Now the fun begins!!

Very nice!

Two questions:

1. Can I ride it?

2. Do you have enough money left over for Direct TV?!

Great job!!

Answers: Yes and No. We only have French Canadian radio and NPR up here. And we have a VCR.

Seriously though, the lack of Yankees radio coverage in northern New England is very problematic. Every radio station that carries sports up here will only give you the Red Sox or Expos. I know a lot of Red Sox fans read this site, but it sure would be nice to a Yankee game from time to time. Sometimes, on a crystal clear summer's night, I can get WABC from NYC to come in sporadically. But then Maryellen usually ends up asking, "Honey, why are we listening to static?" To which I reply, "Well, occasionally the Yankees' game fades in and I can catch the score." This explanation is almost always met with a puzzled look that says, "It looks like I might have married a real whack-job."

I wish I could edit comments. That should say, ". . . it sure would be nice to listen to a Yankee game from time to time."

Can I get you to come down to Brooklyn in the winter and shovel our walk with that bad boy/girl...

Peter,

The tractor looks to be in great shape.
I was looking for a used small tractor with a front end loader some years ago and I recall the Ford 2000 came highly recommended.Your 3000 is probably has more power.

It's wonderful that a neighbor saw that available and you were able to get it so quickly.

Good luck,

Joe

Billy and I--and I think I can speak for Pete M, too--are so jealous.

Vroom. Vroom.

You maybe able to listen to Yankee games through your computer. I believe its a nominal fee of about $15.00 for the season. You have to pay major league baseball.

I listen to Michigan hockey games through the computer. Since its college hockey, they don't charge a fee.

Another W last night; this time in Arlington. I am beginning to warm up to Mussina. What a start!!

Wow!

Good for you!

That looks like a world class tractor!

Like Mike, I'd love it drive it for you.

The last time I drove a tractor was a summer job in college, and I had a brush hog attached which I proceeded to drive between two trees at an angle such that I wedged the attachment between the trees and had to be ignominiously towed out.

So I need to redeem myself with some open field driving!
