Going quackers

I heard them before I saw them the other day when I was working up in the field -- Canadian geese heading south. And the weather report calls for a chance of frost tonight. Time to cover those tomatoes!

Only what I (John J.) told Peter by phone: the geese may well have been Canadian -- they were born in Canada, and so by rights should be able to claim citizenship there -- but as a crabby wildlife biologist told me, repeatedly, in 1974, for biologists and birders those were "Canada Geese" honking overhead.
