How cold is it?
So cold that I couldn't boil water for tea this morning because the propane was so cold it wouldn't come out fast enough to make the burner hot. So cold that when I went to take out the compost this afternoon, the dampness on my hand froze on contact with the metal doorknob of the back door.

Posted by: cornelia at January 15, 2004 08:07 AMActually, this weekend it is supposed to warm up, with highs about 10-15 ABOVE zero. A regular heatwave! But seriously, when it is in the teens and 20s below zero for a few days, it does get to the point where +10 feels warm. And at +30, you are ready to break out the shorts!
Posted by: peter at January 15, 2004 08:52 AMso cold that the snot freezes inside your nose the first breath you take outside. so cold that even the salted snow and ice is in danger of freezing. so cold that the olive oil in the kitchen at our place [which is a little chilly in normal winter] gelled. so cold that the boiling temperatire of water in the kitchen seems higher because the pans stay cold on the outside.
