Winter on its way out

So this picture about sums it up -- the seedling trays got delivered on the porch, where the sleds and snowshoes still reside, and it is sleeting in the background.

And what do we have here? Has Maryellen been out off-roading again?

Nope. Just our "driveway" at the beginning of mud season.

Hi! What a difference a little longitude makes. I'm actually living 4 degrees north of you all at the Old Shaw Farm, but we're heavy into spring. The rhododendron in my yard is in full bloom, more diligent folks have started mowing their lawns, and we're already about two weeks into the daffodil harvest. There's nothing like fields of daffodils on a sunny day.

Hang in there. Hey, it could be worse. You could've been in the Twin Cities this morning. I hear just two accidents on I-94 involved at least 26 vehicles.

I don't know where I got that expression. I think from Oklahoma where my old boyfriend Rusty used to say "well, can you spit?" whenever someone was hurt. I guess he got that from his high school wrestling coach. Because as we all know, if you can spit you are not really very hurt. It always cracked me up.
