Ice Station Alpha

Not really Ice Station Alpha. Just Peter sweeping the snow off the greenhouse. In the first photo, if you look carefully, you can see the snow sliding off.

The snow is piling up outside, but there's no snow inside the greenhouse, even with no heat except the sun. Just mud inside, I think because under the top layer of mud, the ground is still frozen, so the water has nowhere to go.

Holy smokes. Looks cold and eerie up there. I'm not sure Christo's Gates would stand up to that kind of weather.

Time to turn the heat up!

As luck would have it you had the weather to get the plastic on while the mild temps were there. That may not happen again till REAL spring gets there. So you MAY have gotten a leg up on the game. Mother nature throws a great screwball!!

the greenhouse gods were indeed very kind to us. we go the plastic up during a stretch of warm, high pressure, with no winds. these pictures are from a snow storm that came through only a couple of days after the plastic went up. we probably got about 18 inches of snow, and more has piled up since then. although that isn't that much snow for up here, it is enough to make us glad the plastic was on.

Wow, awesome greenhouse! Peter, do you mind sharing where you purchased that kit?
