If you want good Patagonia gear, buy it used on ebay. I bought a near new Patagonia jacket (retail $250) for $45 plus s/h on ebay. There is usually a large selection for sale at any give time. Plus you are reusing someone's unwanted item, preventing a new jacket from being manufactured. You could also buy fleece vests and pull-overs for less than $20, so you might be more willing to wear them as work gear.
